Purina Pro Plan-Fed King Shines At 2nd Annual Beverly Hills Dog Show
Canine celebrities bedazzled all, as they strolled down the red carpet runway on their way to Best in Show judging at the second annual Beverly Hills Dog Show Presented by Purina. Featuring six of seven Group First winners fed Purina Pro Plan, the star-studded lineup shined with Top 100 dogs, many ranked No. 1 in their breed.
Casting his Best in Show decision, judge James G. Reynolds of Nepean, Ontario, Canada, chose a 6 ½-year-old Wire Fox Terrier, GCH Kingarthur Van Forliny Home, called “King.” Handled by professional handler Gabriel Rangel of Rialto, California, the Belgian-bred tricolor male is just starting out on the U.S. circuit after a successful career in Europe that included breed wins at Crufts in 2014 and 2015 and multiple Bests in Show at World Shows and European dog shows.
Over 1,200 dogs representing 175 breeds and varieties competed at the show hosted by the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills. Taped on March 3 and aired on Easter Sunday, April 1, the show paired celebrity dog show co-hosts David Frei and John O’Hurley, who have worked together for 16 years as co-hosts of The National Dog Show Presented by Purina, which is seen by 30 million viewers on Thanksgiving Day.
NBC Sports Group and USA Network introduced the Beverly Hills Dog Show Presented by Purina in 2017 to add a West Coast event to the holiday tradition of dog shows.
